Jay Chopra PhD

Managing Director

Bio

Over the past two decades, Dr. Jay Chopra has worked with more than 1,000 teams in 20+ countries. What he has learned is simple: inclusion isn’t an add-on; it is the engine of performance. Get inclusion right, and everything else flows: strategy, culture, innovation, wellbeing, leadership.

Before founding Making Shift Happen, Jay was part of the Innovation Leadership Team at Pfizer Global Supply in New York, embedding inclusive approaches to innovation across 80+ sites and 20,000+ employees worldwide. Since then, he has supported clients in pharma, higher education, engineering, food, and tech to deliver tangible shifts in team performance, leadership, and culture – always with inclusion as the anchor.

Today, Jay wears several hats:

  • Managing Director, Making Shift Happen – partnering with organisations such as Merck/MSD, GSK, Zoetis, Novo Nordisk, BioMarin, Keelings, Suntory, UCC, and the Irish Universities Association.

  • Executive Programme Director & Associate Faculty, Irish Management Institute – shaping executive education journeys with inclusion at their core.

  • Co-facilitator, HEA Career Odyssey – helping PhD graduates successfully transition to careers beyond academia by building confidence and inclusive networks.

Highlights of his work include:

  • Leading multi-year inclusion and team effectiveness programmes on capital projects worth up to $1B, unlocking stronger delivery and collaboration.

  • Guiding culture evolution across organisations of 20,000+ employees, embedding trust, voice, and belonging at scale.

  • Training 500+ Innovation Coaches who solved critical business challenges through diverse, innovative thinking.

  • Serving as Judge for Engineers Ireland’s CPD Employer of the Year Award (2023 & 2024), recognising organisations that invest in inclusive professional growth.

Credentials: PhD, Master Certified Whole Brain® Facilitator (one of only a handful worldwide), Executive Coaching, Hogan, Emotional Intelligence, 360 Feedback, Enneagram, Mindfulness, Insights, Realise2 Strengths.

At heart, Jay is a bridge-builder. Born in Ireland with Irish-Indian heritage, his life’s work is helping people connect across differences – of thinking, culture, and leadership – to build more inclusive and high-performing teams.

He is also the author of Get Your Shift Together (forthcoming Q1 2026), a playbook of theory, tools, and tactics for inclusive, high-performing teams.
